My name is Cassie, and even though I am just a PBD (plain black dog), I want you to know I have a smile in my heart and a lot of love to give.

I’m only about 6 months old and life hasn’t been too great so far. My brother and I were dumped at a construction site when we were only a few months old and we had to fend for ourselves. That was really scary. Fortunately some nice people took us away from there and got us to a vet for some medical care. While at the vets, I was spayed and got my shots.

The next day my brother and I went for a long car ride and finally got to stay inside a house. (Below is a picture of me the day I went to my foster home, before I started to feel bad.) The next day I didn’t feel too good, and my foster mom took me to another vet, where they did more surgery because I had an abscess where my spay was done, and I also had some nasty ticks in my ear. I stayed overnight in the hospital.

A few days after returning home, my front leg started to hurt. It hurt to walk so I was limping and crying. My foster Mom took me back to the vet and they thought it was growing pains. A few days later the pain was worse. I knew it was the middle of the night and my mom and dad were sleeping, but I couldn’t help but scream in pain it hurt so bad. The pain pills I was given didn’t really help. My leg was really swollen and it was too painful to walk on it. Mom and Dad carried me outside to go to the bathroom.

Late Sunday evening some ladies came and took me to the emergency hospital. I’ve been there all week getting antibiotics and medicine and being watched around the clock. Finally I’m feeling a little better and today my foster dad brought me home. My leg is still swollen and I need to take medicine for a few more months, which of course is expensive. This is a picture of my leg this eveing (August 14).

I try so hard to be a good girl and not be a bother, but I know all my medical care is costing a lot of money. These wonderful people, called rescuers, are doing everything they can to keep me going so I can have a good life. They are volunteers and depend on donations to help pets like me, so that’s why I’m writing. I’m hoping you can help by making a donation to Animal Adoption League. My vet bills so far are about $3,000, so they really need your help.

I know I’m just a plain black dog, but if you could help the people who have helped me, I would be eternally grateful and show you my biggest smile and fastest wagging tail ever.

Love, Cassie
